A little about Kukup ..
Kukup is situated south of Pontian,
a small town at the southwest corner of Johor, Malaysia. A fishing village with
houses built on stilts over the sea, Kukup village is famous for its seafood restaurants, with daily fresh seafares hauled
directly from the ocean to your table. It's surrounded by one of the world's largest mangrove swamp island, Kukup Island,
along which numerous fish-farms bob up and down on the surface of the Kukup Sea.
Hard working chinese fishermen made their living here since a century
ago, but nowadays their homes have been converted into holiday chalets for the sole purpose of promoting tourism to this part
of Johor. On most weekends, the village is packed with tourist, especially from the neighbouring country, Singapore.
